As a Community of Faith, we at St. Hedwig strive to create a Christ-centered environment that inspires and guides the students in the harmonious development of their spiritual, intellectual, psychological, sociological, physical and aesthetic gifts. The continued growth of these gifts is in the context of a loving, forgiving and compassionate community, which provides recognition, support and challenge to all members of the school community. Parents and teachers collaborate with one another to facilitate the development of the whole child.

This holistic education, where the truths of our faith are integrated into all curriculum areas, also provides a sequential teaching of Catholic doctrine, which is grounded in faith and presented as relationship with Christ and with one another. Students are encouraged to grow in appreciation of the fact that they are created in God’s image and likeness and to continually strive for excellence in all that they say and do. They are challenged to recognize, develop and celebrate the uniqueness of their gifts and to use them to proclaim the Good News by their interactions with all members of the school community and by reaching out to minister to the needs of the local, national and global communities.

The St. Hedwig Faith Community grows in its identity in Christ by providing opportunities to come together to worship God and to engage in shared responses of faith in celebration of the liturgical year.

Statement Of Principles

We at St. Hedwig School believe:

1.

that the primary function of St. Hedwig School is to complement the family in fulfilling its role in the development of the spiritual, intellectual, psychological, sociological, physical and aesthetic growth of the whole child.

2.

that all people, regardless of race, color or creed, are entitled to equal rights and liberties, including the right to a Catholic education.

3.

that our responsibility as educators of the Catholic faith is to live this faith, as well as teach students about Christ, in order that they might better be able to live their lives as loving and responsible members of their family, Church, civic and global communities.

4.

that as educators of the Catholic faith we are responsive to the unique and individual needs of our students and to help them grow in the knowledge of themselves and their relationship to God and others.

5.

that as educators we prepare our students for lifelong learning and provide an environment where students can feel secure developing a sense of self-worth, while learning how to reflect Christ in their relationships and communication with others.

6.

that all members of the St. Hedwig School community are called to embrace these statements of philosophy and to live them through their personal faith in God and through their service to the school, the parish and the global community.
